There are three retinoic X receptors (RXR): RXR -alpha, RXR -beta, and RXR -gamma, encoded by the RXRA, RXRB, RXRG genes, respectively. RXR heterodimerizes with subfamily 1 nuclear receptors including CAR, FXR, LXR, PPAR, PXR, RAR, TR, and VDR.
