WebXbows are vastly superior to bows. The vlandian sharpshooter is the only unit with the bound xbow, the best one. It can shoot at twice the range of a bow, and has pinpoint perfect accuracy. Don't be fooled by them being a tier 5 troop, they're easily on par with Fians etc. in ranged, but Fians obviously smoke them in melee.
