WebThe Bishop Tuff is the >600 km3 (magma volume) product of the 0.765 Ma caldera-forming eruption at Long Valley in eastern California. It is an archetypal example of a compositionally zoned high-silica rhyolitic eruption deposit and one of the most thoroughly studied rhyolitic systems in the world (Hildreth 2004; Hildreth and Wilson 2007).
